Again, just because he is a superstar this happened. Dad got all the Illini bloggers to email the IHSA. If it had been anyone else there's no way this is overturned. What does this really say about high school athletics? Apparantely it is now professional sports where you can appeal every call. What kind of precedent does this set from now on in IHSA? Thoughts?

That's trash, it's only because he is a very talented player and they played the race card because there were three white refs and one all white team. Between constantly extending the class system, and poor decisions such as this one and others such as GBN two football seasons ago the ihsa body usually makes poor decisions, next thing you know they will make bass fishing a sport...
ReplyDeleteI just think it's an extremely weak move on the IHSA's part. they completely gave in plain and simple. I know it was a terrible call but you have to stand by the rules and bylaws you have in place. Whenever I here that message said before every game that it is being conducted under IHSA rules i might just have to say, until appealed by mass protest by internet messageboard geeks.
ReplyDeleteMore like internet bigots, most of those people are making the most obsurd comments and ihsa folds like a lawn chair
ReplyDeleteIt's truly sad that this happened; however, it's not unprecedented. I just got off the phone with my old boss from the Herald, and he said this happens all the time with the IHSA when it comes to superstar HS players. I guess Candace Parker was so coddled by the IHSA that they TWICE overturned both stats from the IHSA tournament and technicals. Crazy!!!
